How is it made?

First, the vinyl is printed using 3-D technology. It’s so clear, every knot, swirl, raised grain and veining will jump out at you.

Then it’s cut into strips and mounted on boards. Embossing gives it texturing features for added depth and dimension. This year, especially, are all about texturesand you can have: wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered or distressed.

If you’d rather, you can also use a plank to mimic stone; some like that larger format/fewer seams to give a more continuous look like a quarry slab.

Where can I use it?

The short answer: any room, including an enclosed sun porch. All vinyl is durable and the luxury version is thicker and completely impervious to water.

That makes it a great choice for high traffic areas like the kitchen or bath. It’s durable enough to withstand traffic and spills in the family room or enclosed porch, and it’s stylish enough for the living, dining or bedroom.

Why do builders prefer it?

Residential home builders and homeowners love it for the style, waterproof capabilities, durability, and affordability.

Senior community builders and designers prefer it for all the above reasons. it provides the kind of non-institutional, comfortable and familiar atmosphere required by seniors, while still providing protection and safety. it is great flooring for either rubber or leather-soled shoes, resulting in the elimination of falls.

Installation is easy and can be done on a do-it-yourself basis. With few exceptions, it does “float” over existing subfloors and the pieces click together like a puzzle.
